Savoy's Refurbishment

We're Back!
On Monday 4th September Savoy closed for the first phase of refurbishment to modernise your cinema.
Phase 1 is now completed with Screen 1 totally re-fitted, and brand new Screen 2 -  "Savoy Suite".
Phase 2 to bring another 2 new screens  and a street-level bar & restaurant continues; due to be completed in Summer 2018.
As a gesture of goodwill for Movie Magic Cardholders
Because we were closed for 2 months, when existing Movie Magic Membership cardholders purchase a ticket for a film or event at Savoy Penzance between 4th September 2017 and Good Friday (30th March 2018), their membership will automatically be extended by 2 calendar months beyond its expiry date as a gesture of goodwill. Terms and conditions apply. See here.
Further details about the project
The Savoy is currently being improved and extended to provide better and more comfortable facilities including adding an extra screen. When complete the complex will have 4 screens and a larger bar and restaurant area. The extra screen will allow a wider range of films to show in Penzance.
To avoid a long period of closure and leaving the town without a cinema for a long period, this project, which commenced in September 2017, is being completed in phases over a year.
Phase onehas now been completed, and the original cinema building has reopened following the refurbishment of Screen 1 and the amalgamation of Screens 2 and 3 to form a new larger Screen 2.  Entrances to the auditoria have also changed to improve circulation and disability access. Changes include installing new seats, carpets, air-conditioning along with improved sound and digital projection equipment. The first set of new ladies’ toilets and a disability access toilet have also been completed.
Phase twoshould be complete in Spring 2018 when two totally new auditoria will be opened in the adjoining building next door; access will be from the original Savoy as for Screens 1 and 2. New male toilets and an additional set of ladies’ toilets will then become available. This phase also delivers ten new apartments for sale above the building next door several with fine sea views.
Phase threewill see a new street level cinema bar and restaurant along with an additional upstairs seating formed in the retail shop area next door to the cinema and in front of the new screens. At this point we will remodel and improve the front foyer of the Savoy and a glazed link between the new bar restaurant and the original Savoy bar installed.
By the summer of 2018 the Savoy project should be complete giving a new lease of life to a building that originally opened in November 1912 and providing Penzance with a vastly improved cinema facility for the future.
Please bear with us during some of the inevitable disruption as we complete the next two phases but in the meantime, we hope you will enjoy seeing films in the newly refurbished auditoria Screens 1 and 2 now completed in this the first phase.
